All about the Black Rabbit Devil’s Reef III Jacket
Look: An asymmetric coat based on an original style.
Fit: Slim in silhouette with kimono-type sleeves for freedom of movement. The straight set sleeve, typical of military garments, gives a bulk to the torso. The ample overlap of the lapels gives a dramatic look when open. The Black Rabbit Devil’s Reef III Jacket has a more structured aspect when compared to the 3/4 lined Devil’s Reef of Tranche I.
Construction: This garment is unlined with contrasting cotton cavalry-twill used for the pocket bags and back neck “wedge” insert. The stitching is relatively bulky for this type of fabric, giving a distinct ripple to the seams. The rear pocket is supported by two internal bracing tapes that extend up to the neck. Hidden rib cuffs are built in to the sleeves.
Fabric: This cotton-linen canvas is composed of 60% cotton and 40% linen. This proportion was carefully chosen to blend the crinkled appeal of a linen fabric with the tough appearance of cotton. The fabric has a full and rounded hand feel, which betrays the linen content and combines well with the rough approach used in the pattern cutting. On close inspection, this canvas has an irregular “flamed” surface due to the use of a “slub” linen yarn.
Trims: Punched and folded brass buckles on rear pocket. Lacquered brass cupped-shank buttons riveted along hood edge and – in a slightly larger size – on the centre-front. Red Tranche II label inside. [/col][/row]
