All about Black Rabbit Hokkaido Pants
Look: A oversized military-pant based on an original style with some additional features taken from the Devil’s Reef III.
Fit: Oversized and with a lower crotch than our HOKKAIDO style from Tranche I, Black Rabbit’s designers wanted to get a look somewhere between Leopard tank driver and a Japanese Buddhist monk. The crotch features an eye shaped insert known by Black Rabbit as the “Catfish Crotch.” This insert stops lateral tension along the crotch seam, which can lead to tearing. The Catfish Crotch distributes tension longitudinally along its twin seams.
Construction: Like the Hokkaido, the Hokkaido II features a front panel with no centre-seam. The fly is constructed in the same way as a shirt’s cuff placket. The back panel is reinforced with two semi-circular panels. The inside fly is bound, as is the seaming inside the crotch. The centre-front is constructed with a inside “jigger” button which helps keep the front clean looking.
Fabric: A lightweight version of Black Rabbit’s 2×2 cotton twill. It features the same long staple cotton, tightly twisted and densely woven. It is very durable for its 5 oz. weight. The twist of the cotton gives this fabric a subtle sheen – visible evidence of its high quality.
Trims: Punched and folded brass buckles on both hips. Lacquered brass cupped-shank buttons (L32) on the waist and front pockets, and – in a slightly smaller size (L24) – on the fly. These are designed to wear through to the brass base, over time. The front also features our distinctive over-size hook fastening in thick black lacquer over heavy-duty brass. Injected L32 “Limpet” buttons are used on the rear pocket. These Black Rabbit Hokkaido Pants feature a red Tranche II label inside.[/col][/row]
