An Overall Good Boot That Could Be Great
All in all, I am very happy with my Chippewa Cordovan Service Boots. Beautiful leather, solid construction, competitive price point, and really quite classy looking. They have a lot going in their favour. It is just the issues with the left boot that gives me some concern.
Whilst I am sure that the right will last for many year and many miles, I have some worries as to what other hidden issues are lurking in the left. It really is another boot.
If the quality issues were not present – and there is every chance I have just been unlucky – I would have no qualms in heartily recommending these boots for anyone looking for a gateway into true quality footwear. The ease of breaking them in alone is a huge advantage for people coming out of trainers for the first time.
A Company Rich in History
Chippewa has a fascinating history dating back to 1901. The brand is responsible for some of the most recognised boot styles and footwear innovations that we take for granted today.
Most famously, Chippewa is credited as the inventor of the engineer boot in 1937, but the Wisconsin-based company was also the first all padded collars, the KUSH-N-KOLLAR as it was known, which is the padding around the top of a boot that adds comfort and ease of movement.
It is not just heritage and military inspired footwear that Chippewa cover, there is also a wide range of footwear for all walks of life. Thanks for taking the time to write this very good review. It is insightful, honest & really helpful when deciding to purchase. My only problem is that I am a woman who likes good quality, but has troubles finding it in women’s shoes; thus I look for the smallest of men’s sizes. 6.5 I do not know where petite men or women go for quality footwear. I love the aesthetic of this boot, you just wanna stare at it, or photograph it. It is like a well made watch or pen or car. A real thing of beauty. But where can I find a smaller size?
