Yaco Offer Sustainability Within Hands’ Reach

Consumer Awareness Around The World Is Shifting But Old Habits Die Hard

We have become victims of the consume-and-dispose system we created. Throwaway fast fashion, pointless paper printing, and wasted plastic puts pressure on our valuable ecosystem. And it’s those harmful plastic bags which are filling our oceans and streets that Yaco wants to replace – in a stylish denim sense, of course.

This Is Not A Plastic Bag

Yaco was established in Amsterdam during the final days of 2014. The first product they delivered is the (already) popular Yaco bag in a reversible denim fabric.

Trying to create awareness on the consumption of plastic bags, the Yaco bag is printed with “THIS IS NOT A PLASTIC BAG” on the outside.

As founders, Joeri Borst and Josine Castelein, point out:

“We consume 260-300 plastic bags yearly – per person. This made us create a bag that acts as a reaction to the high consumerism of plastic bags.

They are durable and made of sturdy denim and with the print on the bag we hope to stimulate awareness among consumers in the European street scene.

Never again will you have to pay extra for a plastic bag; no more torn plastic bags in the street, and, above all, you get a cleaner environment.”

Lightweight In The Hand, Heavyweight On The Load

The Yaco bag is made from 12 oz. slubby denim fabrics, which are actually leftovers from a Shanghai denim supplier. The goal is to not waste materials in order for consumers to stop wasting plastic bags.

All in all, we see no reason why you shouldn’t stop wasting plastic and get a Yaco bag instead. It retails for €19.95, which is a very decent price for a denim bag like this. And, since it’s reversible, if you prefer not to make a statement, just turn it inside out and go with the flow.
