Since the site was launched only a little over two years ago, the ‘spin off’ of NET-A-PORTER, MR PORTER, has established itself as a premier global online retail destination for men’s style by combining a high-end webshop with editorial content in the shape of a weekly online magazine that they call The Journal. On April 9 the Journal featured a “behind the brand” video with Levi’s Vintage Clothing and the brand’s design director Miles Johnson. Quite interesting to hear him explain how each piece is, “an exact replica of the originals,” but at the same time that they, “try to stay as close to how it would have been made back in the days” – that somehow contradicting.

I get where you are trying to get at with the contradicting comment however I think the point is that the products are exact replicas however the process in which they are made is as close to the real thing. I mean you can make a replica 1967 Ford Mustang with your bare hands and some tools. It will be made with the exact parts as the original, however it wasn’t made on an assembly line like the originals were. I guess that is my take on what they mean. Basically they are trying to “build mustangs” on assembly lines that are almost exactly the way there were back in the day. By the way I love this website. It’s my new favorite.
